5 best apps to save your time.

It seems like lately everything is rush rush rush. There are a million things that need to be done, and only so many hours in a day to do them.

We’re all busy people (or like to think we are), and besides – who doesn’t love to save time? An hour saved could be another task completed, or even better: an extra hour of sleep.

To help you save some time, we’re here to share a few of our favorite apps that can help you save anywhere from a few minutes to hours of your precious time — hey, every little bit helps.

  1. Waze

Ah yes, everyone’s favorite navigation app for getting from Point A to Point B. Not only will Waze inform you of traffic jams happening in real time, it will also inform you of accidents and road obstructions as they are reported by Waze’s vast user base in Malaysia.

By using Waze, not only can you satisfy your kepo side by finding out what the jam is all about, you can also elect to take another, less time consuming route as suggested by the app.

Save time by planning your journey ahead. Waze can also show you the busiest times on your chosen route, so you might choose another, less busy time to travel and save yourself both some time and a lot of headache.

  1. Cinema apps

Movie buffs take note —  stop waiting in line for movie tickets! While it’s sometimes nice to have a physical movie ticket stub as a souvenir, keepsake or for Instagram photo-taking purposes, are the lines really worth it?

Yes, you might need to pay an additional RM1 booking fee, but the amount of time saved is well worth it. Especially on weekends when the line is typically long, you can make use of the booking app to secure your movie ticket with a few steps. Just pick your date and time, movie, seat, process payment and you’re done.

Not only will you help save a bit of paper and some clutter in your pocket at the end of the day, cinemas are also incentivising app usage by occasionally offering freebies and promotions for using their apps.

  1. Online banking

Forget driving all the way to the bank just to use the ATM, or waiting to use the counter. Most banking transactions can be done online. Most major banks also have their own mobile apps for increased security and convenience.

In the age of hacking and malware, security when it comes to online banking is paramount. These apps often take advantage of newer phones’ biometric (fingerprint) security feature for login, to give users more peace of mind when it comes to their finances.

So if you’re one of those who still have reservations about the safety of online banking, you can rest assured that there are sufficient measures in place to safeguard user’s security.

You can save a lot of time and hassle by doing your banking online. Besides, there are also other features that don’t come with traditional banking, such as storing frequently used account numbers, scheduled auto bill payment and more, which really adds to the convenience of conducting transactions online.

  1. Hotel booking

Prior to the creation of online hotel bookings and apps like Trivago and TripAdvisor, booking accommodations were pretty much a shot in the dark. Unless you had an unlimited hotel budget or could afford to stay in a chain hotel, you risked any variety of “nightmare hotel” scenarios — stolen luggage, weird stains, or even contacting a disease from a number of parasites (bed bugs, anyone?)

Additionally, the booking process was slow, tedious, and prone to human error. You might have had to stay on hold for awhile before you being able to talk to a booking officer, and even then, they might end up losing your booking and you might end up (hopefully figuratively) out in the cold.

Luckily, we’ve managed to move past that with accommodation and review sites like Agoda, which will let only guests who have stayed at the hotel write a review, so you’re guaranteed at least a partially accurate account of what staying there is like.

What’s more, apps like TripAdvisor will compare prices from different booking sites for you, which saves you a lot of time clicking around to find the best deal. Booking via these apps is made fast and easy, so you can have a worry-free holiday.

  1. Maxx ‘N Go

The scope and variety of things you can get delivered by ordering online nowadays is amazing. You can order food, groceries, clothes, and now, you can even order an engine oil change.

Getting your car’s engine oil changed is a very necessary, and unfortunately quite time consuming activity. It typically takes anywhere from 1 to 3 hours, depending on the amount of time you need to wait as employees tend to other cars.

Luckily, you can order an oil change via the Maxx ‘N Go app, and technicians will come to your location to take care of that oil change. No more long waits, and no more hassle. The Maxx ‘N Go app lets you order an oil change to take place pretty much anywhere you’re parked, whether in front of a restaurant, by the roadside or in a shopping mall (and no, they won’t make you pay for their parking).

This lets you continue to do whatever you need to while technicians are servicing your car. The app also gives you the flexibility to book a service to take place on the same day, or pre-book for a more convenient date and time.

Book a mobile engine oil change via Maxx ‘N Go that gives you maximum convenience at amazing value. With every Maxx ‘N Go oil change, you only pay for the oil — the oil filter, labour, delivery and 15-point car inspection are all free.

The Maxx ‘N Go Service Center is also open to take care of all your major service needs — replacing air filters, spark plugs and more.

Download the Maxx ‘N Go app via the App Store or Google Play store, or go to our website to learn more.
